Countryside Stewardship Applications

In 2015 Countryside Stewardship replaced Environmental Stewardship. Get in touch to discuss your needs and how we can help with each of the three elements of the scheme:

1. Higher Tier

Suitable for the most environmentally significant sensitive sites, commons and woodlands. We can help you to:

  • Understand the new Higher Tier scheme and how it works
  • Review your suitability for the Higher Tier
  • Prepare Expressions of Intent and applications to enter Higher Tier
  • Apply for woodland improvement and infrastructure options.

2. Mid Tier

Most expiring Entry and Higher Level Stewardship agreements will be suitable for Mid Tier. We can:

  • Talk you through how the new Mid Tier scheme works
  • Look at how you could use your existing ELS options in the new scheme
  • Work out if Mid Tier would work for your business
  • Help you draw up and complete the application form

3. Capital Grants

We can help you with all aspects of the following grants including how they work, if you are eligible and in preparing application forms:

  • Hedgerows and boundaries
  • Woodland management plans
  • Woodland tree health issues
  • Woodland creation
  • Water capital grants

Woodland Management Plans

These are now needed to be in place before Countryside Stewardship woodland improvement options can be undertaken in Higher Tier. We can prepare these plans for you using the latest Forestry Commission approved templates.

Management Service for Agri-Environment Schemes.

For the new Countryside Stewardship schemes, Higher Level Stewardship or larger and more complicated Entry Level Stewardship agreements, we can help you to manage your scheme, whether that is by giving advice on establishing and managing your options throughout the year, helping with measurements, completing derogation requests, capital work claims, annual claim forms or land transfers – just get in touch to discuss your requirements.

LEAF Marque & Assurance Scheme Audits

Investment in LEAF Marque certification, and in other farm assurance schemes, provides the producer with a commercial advantage in the premium and assured food markets. Many of the farm assurance schemes require farmers to prepare a conservation plan for their business. East Midlands FWAG can work with you to develop a plan that compliments the existing habitats and identifies new opportunities that fit within your farm business. We can take you through the whole process of becoming LEAF Marque certified, update your plan or complete your review.

Cross Compliance Requirements

We can offer a package tailored to your needs, from a complete survey of the farm to a simple desktop survey. Whilst it is only the RPA who can determine your compliance, we can provide you with an action plan for any potential failures, which will give you peace of mind for when the inspector calls.

NVZ Compliance & Records

If you farm in an NVZ area you could be inspected and have your NVZ records checked as part of Cross Compliance. Unsurprisingly this is an area where inspection failures are common, often due to incomplete records or errors in record keeping rather than failure to meet the NVZ limits. Get in touch to discuss how we can help you to ensure that you have the correct records.

Greening, Ecological Focus Areas and Voluntary Measures

We can help you to understand the changes brought about by Greening, including crop diversification rules and how to meet your Ecological Focus Area (EFA) requirements, using the options available and in a way that is of benefit to both the farm business and the environment.
